In May 2023, the Association of Proposal Management Professionals (APMP) hosted its annual Bid and Proposal Conference (BPC) in Orlando, Florida, bringing together professionals from across the globe.

The Xait team was privileged to attend, sponsor and speak at this sold-out event; three agenda-packed days to explore proposal management trends and best practices, connect with old colleagues and network with new friends.

BPC is the world’s largest, in-person conference for bid, proposal, tender, capture, business development, and graphics professionals. Attendees represent professionals from all industries, including government and business sectors.

Through it all, we found a common thread - the power of people:

  • Xait took the air out of the AI hype by focusing on the people who will ultimately use it. AI is a powerful tool, but our human critical thinking skills are our superpower in the age of AI.
  • Professional development speakers talked about being intentional with career goals. And experts shared proven paths for moving from contributor to manager, and manager to leader, as well as the power of mentorship.
  • Best practices emphasised soft skills; how to find your voice, how to navigate challenging interactions, and how to “herd” subject matter experts, as well as the motivating power of Yet.
  • Innovations put the spotlight on the people working with the technology, including time-saving bid analysis, content libraries, and team collaboration for doing more with the same resources and improving work-life balance.
  • Affinity infused the event with inclusivity, and opportunities to build connections based on shared interests, including Mental Health, Color, Pride, Young Professionals, and Military and Veterans.
  • Local APMP chapters, including Lone Star and National Capital Area (NCA), were out in full force. “This is the opportunity to engage,” said Cheryl Smith, Xait, APMP NCA Social Media Chair, “And, as a Chapter, our team is here building connections and affiliations to keep professional networking and development going locally throughout the year.”

Professionals attend APMP BPC for more than industry education and certification. It’s the large community of like-minded professionals, their experience, insights and devotion to sharing, who fuel the agenda. And that’s the power of people.
