On May 10, 2023, the Norwegian Ministry of Petroleum Energy announced APA 2023 for the Norwegian Sea, Norwegian Sea and Barents Sea. The deadline to apply is 12:00 noon on Wednesday, 23 August 2023, with awards expected during the first quarter of 2024.

When it comes to APA licensing, XaitPorter is the standard licensing round application solution for Norway. In addition, XaitPorter has been used successfully in a range of other production license application rounds in other countries such as Mexico, United Kingdom, Greenland, Iceland, Denmark and more.

APA, or the Allocation in Predefined Areas, is the annual licensing round for the best-known exploration areas on the Norwegian shelf. It comprises the majority of the available exploration areas, and offers potential for securing interests in licenses within mature areas close to existing infrastructure. Which, in case of a discovery, typically comes with a lower break even price for development than in new, frontier areas.

For oil and gas companies operating on the Norwegian Continental Shelf, XaitPorter has become the standard solution for heavy-duty document production. In fact, 100% of the APA 2022 operator licenses went to XaitPorter clients.

“Standardized processes, such as the APA licensing rounds,” said Customer Success Director Eivind Windspoll, “require a high level of regulatory compliance. XaitPorter’s policy-based document creation and workflow approval is designed to build custom-configured documents, as well as standard documents. This, coupled with predefined rules and co-authoring saves time to invest in content and positioning against the competition.”

It’s also the opportunity for applicants to make a highly professional first impression. By establishing any number of customized Layout Templates, XaitPorter enforces on-brand layout, as well as formatting and numbering, throughout development and review. When it comes time for submission, your application is automatically consistent and on-brand.

For Xait clients, security and high availability of XaitPorter is a top priority. Xait recently announced it has successfully passed the three yearly ISO/IEC 27001 certification Audit, noting successful audits for nine years in a row.

“We’re excited to share our extensive experience helping oil companies organize their license applications,” continued Mr. Windspoll, “And achieve their goals with 99.9997% uptime and availability for the last consecutive 21 months.”
