23rd Licensing Round

26 companies want to explore in the north

The application deadline for production licences in the 23 rd licensing round expired on 2 December. Twenty-six companies had applied for exploration acreage by the end of the deadline.

This licensing round comprises 57 announced blocks or parts of blocks, 3 of which are in the Norwegian Sea and 54 in the Barents Sea. Thirty-four of the announced blocks are situated in the newly opened area in the south-eastern Barents Sea, and many of the applications target this acreage.

Xait is accustomed to helping oil companies with their license round applications and organizing the workflow for the various applications. While organizing the application is a relatively straightforward task, our team of experts can ensure you get it right. Many of the oil companies in Norway request our assistance in ensuring that the outline of their license round application is compliant with the requirements from the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate.

“It is interesting to see that 100% of the companies that submitted license applications for the Norwegian Continental Shelf are Xait clients!” says Kris Saether Chief Commercial Officer at Xait.
Over the last years, XaitPorter has become the standard software tool for the licensing rounds in Norway.
